Ok, I think I have discovered my all time favourite dessert. Big call, I know.
It has all of the elements I love in a sweetie.
1.Meringue- the soft gooey marshmallow type.
2.Passionfruit – the fruit that just makes my taste buds sings, it always feels like the sun is shining when i eat passionfruit.
3. Custard cream – not the runny warm over pudding type but the thick patisserie type that has been enriched with some marscapone.
4. Turkish delight – studded through the delightful icecream blob balanced on top of the roulade
5. Persian fairy floss – this stuff just makes you feel like a kid at a super ritzy carnival.
You will find this absolute treasure in a wonderful little restaurant called Pitchfork in Peregian Beach – about 15 minutes south of Noosa.
Tip go the first day you arrive in Noosa – so you can experience this absolute beauty more than once. I am planning my next visit as I type this.
This is officially one of the best bars I have ever been to and I really should be keeping it a secret. Hidden above street level in Melbourne city, is a hidden gem called Madame Brussells. I still cant decide what was my favourite thing about the place, the very helpful eye candy male and female staff in cute tennis outfits, the astro turf, the blankies and hot water bottles for those when the sun goes down, the delicious cocktails (or in my case mocktails), the rock your socks cheese platter or the to fly all the way back to Melbourne for Chicken Liver Pate.
If you are lucky enough to be a Melbournian check out their Parlour Program. You can find them at Level 3, 59-63 Bourke Street Melbourne
On swish Collins Street in Melbourne. The best Mexican I have had since Wahaca in London. My highlights – char grilled corn, ceviche and sweet corn ice cream. Now open for lunch which is a great option as nights are busy and you may have to line up – definitely worth it.
One of the most divine restaurant settings I have even encountered. Go before sunset so you can enjoy the view and a mojito or two. The food is stunning.
On a recent food styling job in Adelaide I stumbled upon The Big Table in Adelaide Central Market. Take your appetite with you, they serve up a fantastically large breakfast. Saturday morning I managed to put a way a huge plate of green eggs and ham and Sunday saw me opt for a BLT – both were sensational. Allow yourself plenty of time to waddle around the market afterwards, this is one of my favourite food markets in Australia.
Off to Mullumbimby Farmers Market to buy some of the my favourite cheese from the Tweed Valley Whey girls. I shall share more info on these amazing women and their in incredible cheeses in the following weeks. Also stay tuned for more into on all the Farmers Markets in the Byron region.
